Subscribe & Support

The Clio history journal receives limited school funding. In order to meet publication costs, which tend to go up each year, we rely upon the generous support of our student body, alumni, faculty, and other organizations on campus. In 2016, we received extremely generous support from Unversity President Nelsen, the College of Arts & Letters, the Peer and Academic Resource Center, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, and the family of Dr. Brendan Lindsay, along with support from faculty, alumni, and students. Thanks to their support, we were able to produce a highly professional journal, worthy of such support.

We hope to continue to receive the generous support of our current sponsors, but we would also like to expand that support base. Towards that end, we have set up a PayPal account to receive subscription fees and donations. We did this because so few people carry checkbooks these days, and university rules regarding the collection of cash donations can be prohibitive. PayPal allows our students and donors to make contributions with their credit and debit cards, and it makes it easy for us to keep receipts of all transactions. A PayPal account is not required, you just need a credit or debit card. Please see each section below for more information.

Student Subscriptions

Current students at Sacramento State can subscribe to the Clio history journal for less than the cost of publication. For instance, in 2016, it cost roughly $17 for each book printed, but we only asked our student subscribers to chip in $10 to help offset that cost. Ideally, we want to bring the publication costs down, and we can do that primarily by printing more books. But we will never ask the students to pay more than the cost of publication. So, for a $10 subscription fee, current students can ensure they receive a printed copy of the journal and take part in the Clio history journal student organization--an extension of our Phi Alpha Theta history honors society. This student organization will have a say in selecting papers for publication in future editions of Clio, will be able to provide community insight into theme and cover selections, and will be an important voice in ensuring that Clio continues to reflect and serve the needs of its primary audience: the student body.

Donations & Support

If you are not a current student at Sacramento State, you can still support Clio by donating. If you would like to receive a copy of Clio, we request a minimum donation of $20 for each copy of the book, and $10 additional dollars for shipping (if necessary). Simply make the appropriate comments in the form's comment section to let us know how many copies you would like to receive, how we can get in touch with you (email is preferred), and where you would like us to send the journal.
